BABE The Gallant Pig: written by Dick King-Smith

 Mrs. Hogget's thought of many delicious pork chops and bacon after Mr. Hoggets won a pig at the fair. Little did she know that the pig becomes one of their beloved pets. Babe was the smartest little pig in town. Making friends with every barn animal and making Hogget's Farm his new home.

Fly the sheepdog trained the pig on how to become a sheepdog. What a funny thing a pig doing a dog's job chasing the sheep. Mr. Hogget realized how smart the pig was that he decided that he would enter Babe into Grand Challenge Sheepdog Trials. What an unexpected event to see a pig in the dog competition. Do you think he will win?


About the author. Dick King-Smith was born in England in 1922 and loved to be around the animals. He was in the Grenadier Guards in 1941. Two years later, he was a platoon commander in the Salerno Landings in Italy. In1944 he was seriously injured by a hand grenade thrown by a German soldier. At the age of 56, he published his first book called The Fox Buster. He died in 2011 at the age of 88.
